Spiritual direction offers you a safe and welcoming space to discern God's presence with you in the experiences of your life. It is a process of meeting 1 on 1 to engage in listening, reflection, questions, or practices as a response to God's invitation into deeper relationship and wholeness. Spiritual direction can be an enriching practice that leads to greater wisdom of who you are and how God is uniquely meeting you in the joys, trials, questions, and longings of life.
My name is Lindsay and I live in Raleigh, NC with my husband and 2 teenagers. I received 2 years of training in the work and art of spiritual direction through the NC Institute of Spiritual Direction and Formation. My professional background has been in the fields of education and church ministry. My faith background is in the Protestant Christian tradition. The life and teachings of Jesus, contemplative practices, and participating in community through my church are integral parts of my faith. I find deep joy and nurturing through nature, reading, walks, photography and relationships with family/friends.
I welcome all who are seeking a safe companion in their spiritual journey regardless of faith, race or sexual orientation. All are welcome and beloved! I offer in person as well as virtual sessions. I also partner with The Well Mental and Spiritual Care Practice in Raleigh, NC and am a member of Spiritual Directors International as well as The NC Institute for Spiritual Direction and Formation.
Spiritual direction is one way to cultivate a quiet and generous space to tend to the deepest parts of yourself and how God desires to meet you there. It would be my privilege to accompany you on this journey.
If you are interested in spiritual direction or have questions, I'd love to hear from you. I offer a complimentary 30 minute phone call or zoom meeting to share more and allow you to see if spiritual direction with me is a good fit for your needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
Typically we meet once a month for 50-60 min. There are times though that someone may wish for more frequent sessions or less frequent which can be arranged as needed.
As a spiritual director, I follow your lead on what you need in cooperation with listening to how the spirit is guiding our time together.
We may begin with a time of silence, a grounding practice, prayer or a meditative reading but beyond that I listen to what has been stirring in your heart and life that you wish to bring to our time together. In the role of director, it looks like listening, reflecting back what I hear, asking guiding questions, offering deepening practices and encouragement as appropriate. Our time together becomes a space for you to listen more closely to God and have a witness to that inner work.
It does not look like me answering your questions, solving problems, or giving advice. It is about the process of who you are becoming and how the spirit is leading you in the questions you ask, your discernment, longings, griefs and joys.
While there is some overlap in what the practice of spiritual direction may look like, it is not the same as therapy.
In spiritual direction we listen for the ways God is leading us in daily life. God meets us in our struggles, relationships and experiences. It all belongs! It is more about attuning to your inner life and discovering more of God's presence with you and what invitations that brings rather than seeking resolution to life's struggles. Unlike therapy/counseling, I do not make diagnoses or follow a treatment plan to move you from one point to another. I believe in caring for the body, mind, and spirit and spiritual direction is one modality for that. However, when someone's needs are beyond what I am trained to offer I can provide suggestions and referrals for therapists or other vetted resources. Like in therapy, I respect your privacy and will honor that unless there is reason to believe you may harm yourself or others. I am then obligated to seek additional support.
It helps as a spiritual director to know if you are receiving other services like therapy or counseling. Likewise I encourage those I see to let their other support practitioners know that they meet for spiritual direction.
My hope is that spiritual direction can be accessible to those seeking it. For that reason, a session fee follows a sliding scale payment option starting at $50. You can choose to pay within the scale of $50-$100 per session based on what feels comfortable for you financially. I accept payment via Venmo or Paypal within 48 hrs. following your scheduled session.
